Email sent to John McCarrick, Media Relations at Amfori, and to the organization's contact address.

The email asked for comment on The Outlaw Ocean Project's findings that plants certified under the organization's auditable standard had accepted Uyghurs through Chinese government labor transfers before the certifications were issued.

Guggi Laryea, Stakeholder Engagement Senior Manager at Amfori, replied by email, saying: "Sorry we have not able to respond to your enquiry. In order to do so we would need to have more information regarding the particular processing plants you are referring to for us to investigate whether there was any involvement of BSCI. Please also note that MSC certification does not necessarily mean BSCI compliance."

The Outlaw Ocean Project replied to Amfori with a list of the plants in question.

Amfori replied, saying they would not be able to check through the full list of processing plants by close of business June 27, but would reply asap.

Amfori sent an email saying they had checked through the list of 11 plants shared with them by The Outlaw Ocean Project: "Our research shows that none of these eleven plants have received an amfori BSCI audit. It is important to note that while amfori BSCI is recognized by MSC this does not mean that every MSC certified plant has received an amfori audit."
