Email sent to the contact address at Zhejiang Zhoushan Shun Ze Yuan Yang Fisheries Co. Ltd.
The email said that the Uruguayan Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that twenty-eight African workers fled the Jia De 1, which was anchored in Montevideo, in 2014, and that several complained of beatings on board and showed shackle marks on their ankles. Fifteen of the crew members were hospitalized. The Jia De 1 is owned by Zhejiang Zhoushan Shun Ze Yuan Yang Fisheries Co Ltd. The email asked for comment.
