Email sent to the Beaver Street Fisheries press inquiries contact address.
The email said that Shantou Haimao partnered with a coalition of U.S. companies, including Beaver Street Fisheries, to implement a fisheries improvement project for the mitre squid fishery in the South China Sea in 2018. The fishery straddles Chinese waters and Taiwanese waters, according to a map provided as part of the fisheries improvement programme. Satellite data shows that some of this squid is caught by Chinese vessels fishing in waters claimed by Taiwan. U.S. authorities say that fishing in Taiwan's waters is illegal. The email asked for comment.
