Email sent to the media team at the Monolith Group.
The email said that the company Dandong Yuanyi, which supplies squid products to Monolith's Ikroff range, has used North Korean labor beyond the December 2021 deadline required for the repatriation of North Korean workers under the UN Security Council resolution, and asked for comment.
Email sent to The Monolith Group's headquarters, saying: "We contacted you on June 16, 2023, regarding our ongoing investigation into China’s seafood processing industry. In that email, we said we had uncovered evidence that the Chinese company Dandong Yuanyi Refined Seafoods used North Korean labor after the December 2019 deadline for the repatriation of overseas North Korean workers required under United Nations Security Council sanctions. This evidence showed North Korean labor at Dandong Yuanyi’s factory as recently as 2022. According to our research, Dandong Yuanyi has supplied dried squid products to the Monolith Group’s Ikroff range. While we understand that you may not be aware of the above issues, does Monolith have any comment to make in response to this email?"
